Awareness for Severe Food Allergies
Seth and Susan Lee have made a meaningful impact on the Duke University community through a philanthropic gift inspired by their family’s personal experience with life-threatening food allergies. When their son Jacob ’26, who has severe nut and seed allergies, explored colleges, Duke Dining stood out for its proactive, compassionate approach to supporting students with allergen needs. That experience motivated the Lees to strengthen campus safety for all.
Guided by Seth Lee’s leadership, the family’s gift enabled the installation of emergency epinephrine injector and nasal spray stations across Duke’s dining venues, placing lifesaving treatment within immediate reach during a severe allergic reaction. The initiative has already proven its value: one of the newly installed stations was used to stabilize a visitor experiencing an acute reaction during a campus event.
Seth’s commitment reflects a broader vision to create a safer, more inclusive environment at Duke, ensuring that students, families, and visitors can dine with confidence. Read more here: https://madeforthis.duke.edu/stories/lee-family-gift-enables-safe-dining-safer-campus/.
