LTG Announces New Executive Search Engagement - UH Vice President, Radiology

The Leadership Talent Group (LTG) has been retained by the University Hospitals (UH), to conduct a national executive search for the position of Vice President, Radiology. With a 150+ year legacy in the community, UH is a nationally recognized, $5.4B integrated health system operating 21 hospitals, 50+ health centers/outpatient facilities and over 200 physician offices in Cleveland and 16 counties in northern Ohio. The System is anchored by UH Cleveland Medical Center (CMC), a 1,032-bed tertiary medical center, in addition to five joint ventures.

University Hospitals perfectly blends community and academic medicine throughout its caregiver network, and this is exemplified in Radiology Services. Reporting to the Chair, Department of Radiology and partnering with the Executive Vice Chair, Department of Radiology and Chief Medical Information Officer, the VP, Radiology leads an enterprise team of over a 1,000 technical team members, including 100+ radiologists performing more than 1.6 million procedures and $2B in gross revenue. Of note, in 2023, UH Radiology was the second most profitable service line, producing 98 publications, nearly $8M in new grants, and deemed by the American College of Radiology as a healthcare-AI leader.

The VP Radiology will have demonstrated professional experience designing, implementing, and optimizing best practice radiology principles, standards, and models in a highly matrixed, integrated health system. Responsible for the administrative, fiscal, quality improvement, asset management and allocation, workforce enablement, research activities, strategic planning and regulatory compliance functions for radiology services across the UH System, the incumbent will preferably have a blend of academic and community care experience where providers, faculty, and research intersect. A master’s degree in management or related subject combined with professional certifications and licenses in radiology are required.

Critical to success is a candidate that possesses strong business acumen, exemplifies team engagement,  values stewardship of resources, and drives advancement in innovation, science, and digital applications. The incumbent will be skilled in influencing executive leadership in a highly matrixed organization, advocating for capital investments, developing new programs, and articulating the realities of the next generation workforce, aligning with the system’s focus on strategic market assessments, key business drivers, and attending to community needs. This work is accomplished through meaningful relationships and dialogue with market and system leaders, with a communication style that complements the mission, values, and strategic goals of University Hospitals. Radiology stakeholders seek candidates with refined leadership characteristics such as professional networking, relationship building, engagement, positivity, and embracing the challenges ahead.
